The Firewire No Brainer is the latest surfboard from Slater Designs by Dan Mann. The shape features a single to double concave bottom contour with flatter rocker which is designed to be able to go fast even in small mushy waves like we have in Florida most of the time.
The Seaside is about refining… less area in the tail, narrowing the tips of the swallow, creating more curve and narrowing the nose. All elements for ripping while the Go Fish stays cruisey and fun. They’re both in my van all the time.
In this episode of Surf 'n Show, Firewire sends down two of Machado’s latest performance fish called the Seaside for Noel Salas to review. After a couple weeks of surfing these two stock 5’2” fish-shaped boards, Noel was shocked at the level of high performance they can do.
This board is solid off the bottom and the round tail surprised me how easy it surfed in the pocket. The FRK is a true HPSB and due to its sensitivity I recommend it for solid intermediate to pro level surfers. This board shines in 3-8’ surf and likes a wave with curve and power.
Daniel Thomson flew in and flew out. Landed on a Sunday with a Hydronaut, surfed for three straight days, and flew out on Thursday. The Hydronaut is Tomo's first step-up dedicated to powerful waves. We're anxious to finally release this shape for the first time after years of refinement by Tomo because this model has earned a cult-like following over the past several years since Tomo first made it public.
