All three of these changes give the Sci-Fi 2.0 a high-performance upgrade in the pocket and extended the wave range to 3-8’ surf n a shorter package compared to the OG Sci-Fi. A couple other changes to the Sci-Fi 2.0 that were not as noticeable to me is the wide point shoved forward, and increased depth of Tomo’s Quad Inside Single Concave for greater lift and responsiveness. I found the Original Sci-Fi to be faster down the line in smaller mushy surf due to it having a wider tail with less rocker. If you loved the performance of your OG Sci-Fi, then you will be stoked on the upgrades with the 2.0. Among the collection (ranging from the ’80s–2010s), a pair of Julian Wilson’s F1 boards from 2010 and 2011 were hits, inspiring me to… “Look back, in order to see forward.”\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eWe searched out the original “AKU” file from Julian’s magic Lowers “Clown” board and overlapped it on top of a current Driver 3.0 team board, incorporating many of the original’s design aspects and curves, melding the two together, to create something completely new. At first, we developed a squash tail version, similar to the old Julian board and got it under the feet of Cole Houshmand and other local team riders, with electric responses. Cole rode his first one to great success in multiple WSL events—\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eEl Salvador, Lowers, and finally winning the WCT event in Brazil.
