The Lost Round Nose Fish Retro launched in 2018, The RNF_RETRO was Lost's spin towards a more classic, almost 1970’s inspired, fish. Generous dims, low rocker, flat deck, steep rails and wide tail, made catching waves and speeding along, easier than any fish we’d ever designed. They set the RNF_RETRO apart from the endless schools of fish, was the use of a snowboard inspired design element, reverse radius side-cut, in the outline. Matt first used side-cut, in our “Pelagic” model, a decade or so earlier. Side-cut outlines are nothing new in surfboards, San Diego pioneers like Mirandon and Caster had used them for ages. The Lost team feel the sidecut enables a flat rocker’d and generally parallel outlined board, to turn sharper and retain speed in tight radius turns. They “lock in” to the wave face and carve, off the rail, without sliding out or digging. The RNF_RETRO uses not one, but two side cut radius’. One between the feet, starting just behind the wide point and another, shorter/tighter one, right under the rear foot, in place of a hip, or wing. They believe this outline lends the RNF_RETRO a truly unique ride in a sea of relentlessly similar “fish”. After five years unchanged, it is still one of our most popular models, especially in areas plagued with small and soft surf.
Here's what Lost did for the RNF_RETRO-Revamp’23:
- Moved the wide point slightly forward, for front foot drive, but gently narrowed/pulled in, the forward 12”of the nose, to get it outta the way, in tighter turning situations.
- Deepened the rear side cut, for bite and control, right under the back foot and also added a hint of width to the tail block, for horizontal trim.
- Without changing the tip or tail, we adjusted the rocker curves, both fore and aft. The tail rocker hangs lower in the rear third of the board, but then swoops up quickly, though the fins, creating more curve under the rear foot without actually adding rocker. Up front, we did the opposite and took a more direct route to the nose, cutting out some of the curve in the forward 1/3rd of the board. At the same time, we eliminated the slight forward vee.
These rocker adjustments allow for a more modern, dare say, vertical, approach, with a forgiving feel under the back foot, for more precise pocket turns, without catching the nose.
- We carried the thickness foil further forward, adding more paddle power, ease of entry into waves and front foot drive, to balance the now more curvaceous tail rocker.
- Finally, we deepened the double concave that runs through the back half of the board and the vee thats already in the tail.
These advancements on a proven design have slowly evolved though 5 yrs of production and custom orders, but have never been implemented into our public program….But now they have. Since most these refinements are subtle and often times even barley seen to the untrained eye, we decided to design a new logo, tints and sprays, to give the RNF_RETRO a fabulously fresh, full re-vamp and makeover. The stock dims and volumes are still very close to the original. If you loved a certain size in the past, the new version in the same size will certainly be on a par, dims and volume wise.

Can I return a Surfboard?
- The board must have NEVER have been ridden, used, waxed or damaged in any way.
- Customer is responsible for ALL shipping/custom charges to return/exchange.
- A $50 restocking fee will be charged for all returned surfboards.
- The board must be returned/exchanged within 10 business days of purchase.
- We strongly recommend insuring all returned or exchanged orders.
- We are NOT responsible for any returned board that are damaged/lost in transit.
- Any damage sustained upon return will be deducted from the refund amount.

• Shipping Carriers require a signed delivery for shipments over $500. If you choose to NOT want a signed delivery, please notify our support team with reference to your order # prior, or upon, placing the order at support@surf-station.com. Upon waiving the signature delivery, the consignee also waives the liability of our company and the shipping carrier in cases of porch pirates, or other related activity, causing the package to not be located.
• The Surf Station will NOT be held responsible for any carrier confirmed online shipment deliveries that are either not located, or deemed "stolen;" as these cases fall on a word vs. word basis.
• The Surf Station will NOT be held responsible for any shipments to a freight forwarder once the package has been confirmed delivered to the forwarder. Any discrepancies of a shipment that arise is therefor solely between the forwarder and the consignee.
• Any loss or damages sustained by a shipment aided by the transport of a freight forwarder is NOT the fault of The Surf Station & The Surf Station will NOT be held liable for any such loss or damage.
• Surfboard Disclaimer: Fiberglass Surfboards are not indestructible. Most are man-made, and are known to sometimes contain minor blemishes such as burned glass from the board shaper, unequal coloring from the glassing process, cosmetic scratches, etc. The Surf Station is not liable to compensate for these small imperfections as they will not damper the performance or structural integrity of the surfboard. Surfboard Shipping FAQ's
Q: Are the fees listed for 1 board or multiple?
A: Shipping fees are for 1 surfboard ONLY. Any addition of another board, or board bag, will be an additional cost.
Q: What is considered 'oversized'?
A: Any surfboard over 5'11 is considered "oversized" by the shipping carriers. Oversized packages acquire oversized surcharges by the carriers.
Q: What about Used, Consignment & boards with glass on fins?
A: Used & consignment surfboards, surfboards with glass-ons, and ultra wide boards are subject to different shipping costs.
Q: Why the price jump in boards over 8?
A: All Surfboards Over 8'1 require LTL Freight. This type of freight is different from standard FedEx or UPS shipments, and can be quite expensive, but we will work as best as we can to find our cheapest, most trusted carrier based on the resources available.
Q: How does LTL work?
A: A scheduled outbound pickup is required with all LTL shipments, and pickup will not be scheduled until the shipping payment is complete. LTL Deliveries to RESIDENTIAL locations are by appointment ONLY. The carrier will contact you via phone.
Q: Can I ship to a PO Box or APO?
A: No, sorry. We cannot ship surfboards or oversized packages to PO boxes or APOs. Small merchandise will be shipped via USPS to PO Boxes or APOs.
Q: How do you box & package?
A: Just like you, we want your purchase to arrive on time and without damage. For this we have hired the best box and packers in the industry! Our highly trained professionals package your items to ensure the safety and security of your package. We pride ourselves in going far beyond the industry standards and thus, have an extremely low percent of damaged packages. Surfboards are securely wrapped in high density bubblewrap and then encased with cardboard inserts around the nose, tail and rails of the board. In the extremely rare case that a board or package is damaged, all shipments by the Surf Station are fully insured.
